Prism Journal Everyday — Privacy Policy
Effective 17 August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Prism Data Group ("we", "us") handles information in connection with the Prism Journal Everyday application for iPhone and iPad (the "App"). The App is built so that your journal stays with you: there are no accounts, no analytics, and no tracking, and Prism Data Group operates no servers for it. Its App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected".
1. Information we collect
We collect no data from the App. The App has no user accounts, no sign-in, no analytics SDKs, no advertising SDKs, and no third-party code. It makes no network requests of its own, and Prism Data Group receives nothing from it — not your entries, not your photos or recordings, not your device identifiers, and not any usage information.
2. Data stored on your device
Everything you put into the App is stored locally on your device only, in the App's own database and files:
- Journal entries: text, titles, dates, moods, tags, favourites, the prompt or template an entry started from, and the journal it belongs to.
- Photos you add from your library or camera (re-encoded copies kept inside the App), and their captions.
- Voice notes you record, and any transcript produced from them.
- A place name and coordinates for an entry, if you tap Add Location.
- Your settings: appearance, font, text size, lock and reminder preferences, and which cards to show.
This data does not reach us. You can delete individual entries, photos, voice notes or whole journals in the App, and everything is removed when you delete the App. Backups and exports (Markdown, PDF, or a .prismjournal backup file) are created on your device and go only where you send them, using the standard iOS share sheet or the Files app.
3. Device features you can choose to use
- Photo library and camera — used only when you tap the photo or camera button, to bring an image into an entry. The App reads only the photos you pick.
- Microphone and speech recognition — used only when you record a voice note. Transcription uses Apple's speech recognition on your device when the device supports on-device recognition; on devices that do not, Apple's speech recognition service may process the audio under Apple's privacy policy. You can turn transcription off in Settings.
- Location — read once, only when you tap Add Location, to attach a place name to that entry. Reverse geocoding (turning coordinates into a place name) is performed by Apple's services under Apple's privacy policy.
- Face ID / Touch ID — used only to unlock the App if you enable the lock; biometric data stays in the Secure Enclave and is not available to the App.
- Notifications — a local daily reminder scheduled on your device, if you enable it.
- Maps — a small map of an entry's place is drawn by Apple Maps on your device.
4. Siri and Shortcuts
If you create an entry or log a mood through Siri or the Shortcuts app, the request is handled on your device by Apple's App Intents framework and the entry is saved locally. The App does not send anything to us in the process. Siri's own handling of your request is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
5. Importing from other apps
If you import a backup or a Day One export, the file is read on your device and its contents are added to your local journal. Nothing is uploaded.
6. Sharing and third parties
We do not sell, rent, or share personal information — we do not have any. The App contains no third-party SDKs. The only third party involved is Apple, through the system features described above.
7. Support
If you contact support, we receive what you send us (your name, email address, and message) and use it only to help you. We do not add you to marketing lists.
8. Children's privacy
Prism Journal Everyday is suitable for all ages but is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children — the App is designed so that it cannot.
9. Your choices
- Delete any entry, photo, voice note or journal in the App at any time.
- Delete the App to erase all locally stored data.
- Decline any permission prompt; the related feature simply stays off.
- Choose not to share exports or backups; nothing leaves your device unless you do.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change how the App handles data — for example, if a future version adds optional sync, advertising or subscriptions — we will update this page, revise the effective date above, and update the App's App Store privacy label.
