Prism Speed Test — Privacy Policy
Effective 16 August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Prism Data Group ("we", "us") handles information in connection with the Prism Speed Test application for iPhone and iPad (the "App"). Prism Speed Test is built to collect nothing: there are no accounts, no advertising, no analytics, and no tracking. Its App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected".
1. Information we collect
We collect no data from the App. The App has no user accounts, no sign-in, no analytics SDKs, no advertising SDKs, and no third-party code of any kind. Prism Data Group operates no servers for the App and receives nothing from it — not your test results, not your IP address, not your device identifiers, and not any usage information.
2. Data stored on your device
Everything the App records is stored locally on your device only, in the App's own database (SwiftData) and settings:
- Your test history: download and upload speed, latency (idle, during download, and during upload), jitter, bufferbloat grade, connection type (Wi‑Fi or cellular), the public IP address, provider (ISP/ASN) name and approximate city shown for that test, the test location it ran against, and the time of the test.
- Notes and stars you add to results, and the filters you choose.
- The plan speed you enter, if you choose to enter one.
- Latency-monitor sessions you run.
This data never reaches us. You can delete individual results or everything at once from the History tab, and it is removed entirely when you delete the App. Exports (CSV or JSON) and shared result cards are created on your device and go only where you send them, using the standard iOS share sheet.
3. Network requests during a test
A speed test has to send and receive data across the internet, and the App does this against Cloudflare's public speed-test edge network (speed.cloudflare.com), choosing the nearest of more than 330 cities automatically. In plain terms, here is what that means:
- Like any speed test, the test endpoint necessarily sees your device's IP address in order to send data back to it. That is the only thing the App sends: it transmits no identifiers, no results, no history, and no other information about you or your device.
- At the start of a test the App fetches your connection's public IP address, provider (ISP/ASN) name, and approximate city from Cloudflare's meta endpoint. This is the same information any website you visit can see about your connection. The App displays it on your device as part of the result and stores it only in your local history — it is not sent to us or to anyone else.
- The download and upload phases exchange random test data with the edge server; the upload phase sends generated filler bytes, never files or content from your device.
Cloudflare handles these requests under its own privacy policy, as it does for the many websites and apps that use its network. Prism Data Group has no access to Cloudflare's logs and receives no data from Cloudflare about you.
4. Siri and Shortcuts
If you run a test through Siri or the Shortcuts app, the request is handled on your device by Apple's App Intents framework, and the result is returned to Siri or your Shortcut as text. The App does not send anything to us in the process. Siri's own handling of your request is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
5. Sharing and third parties
We do not sell, rent, or share personal information — we do not have any. The App contains no third-party SDKs. The only third party involved in a test is Cloudflare, as described above, in its role as the test endpoint.
6. Support
If you contact support, we receive what you send us (your name, email address, and message) and use it only to help you. We do not add you to marketing lists.
7. Children's privacy
Prism Speed Test is a general-purpose utility that is suitable for all ages but is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children — the App is designed so that it cannot.
8. Your choices
- Delete any result, or all results, from the History tab at any time.
- Delete the App to erase all locally stored data.
- Choose not to share result cards or exports; nothing leaves your device unless you do.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change how the App handles data, we will update this page and revise the effective date above.
